Figure 6.19 provides an example of a service definition in WCF that exemplifes two of these MEPs. The interface in Fig. 6.19(a) specifies a service contract for a shopping cart with interface IShoppingCart, using the ServiceContract attribute.10 The service operations are identified using the OperationContract attributes. The ComputeTax operation is defined to use the default request-response MEP: the request message specifies a state in the USA and the response message returns the tax computed for the items in the shopping cart. The Add operation is a one-way operation that adds an item to the shopping cart where the arguments identify the item and the quantity to be added. The Checkout method initiates the checking out of the purchases in the shopping cart. It takes a purchase order number as an argument and returns the URL for tracking shipping once the goods are shipped.
